New Myrtle Beach “Coastal Cooks” School Approved

Wednesday, June 15, 2011, Myrtle Beach – A chef and catering hall owner received final approval Tuesday for Coastal Cooks, a new free culinary school at Street Reach Ministries in Myrtle Beach, and they need a little help to get it running.

Rita Gray and Chef Betty Bromley met when the chef had a little restaurant called Sunflower Cafe on Forestbrook Road in Myrtle Beach, which was located a short distance from The Cooper House by the Socastee Swing Bridge. The turn-of-the-century Cooper House and an adjacent general store are both on the South Carolina Register of Historic Places, and Gray, with the help of Chef Bromley, provides elegant-yet-rustic indoor and outdoor space, food and complementary amenities for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and other events.
